Angie Petty stays positive on ‘Nowadays’

Break ups aren’t necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes relationships run their course and that’s ok. Angie Petty reminds us of this and so much more on her celestial new single ‘Nowadays’, out now.

US-based Angie Petty combines neo-soul and jazz sensibilities on new single ‘Nowadays’ and its giving us some serious tingles. Talking about the single, Angie explains, “I wanted to write a song about that debilitating feeling you get when you know a relationship is reaching its expiration date. It could be because they said “we need to talk,” or it could be the lack of talking in general. That feeling has taken me to some dark places while breaking my heart to pieces. But this isn’t another sad break up song. It’s more of a make up song for the self and looking back to find the good that may have come from a relationship. The human heart is an amazing resilient thing and can always bounce back. ‘Nowadays’ is a sort of closure song for me. I finished ‘Nowadays’ with my producer Keyhan completely remotely during quarantine so this was really the only thing keeping me going. It was my light at the end of a loooong tunnel.”
